Portrait / Artist archiveSiamak Abbasi is an Iranian singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer and filmmaker.
Raised in Tehran in a world shaped by literature and poetry, his academic background spans music, cultural management and social communication, followed by further study in Persian lyric literature. Alongside his artistic practice, he has taught electronic music, music technology and computer applications in music, and researched the relationship between music and emerging media.
His independent catalogue began in 2010. The 2016 album Khoshbakhtit Arezoomeh marked his official arrival on the concert stage under his own name, followed by headline performances across Iran and later in Vancouver. His work connects pop songwriting with poetic sensitivity, electronic sound and cinematic narrative.
His practice extends beyond recorded music through published lyrics and poetry, writing and directing short films, founding a professional songwriting programme, and serving as both an award recipient and festival juror. Now working from Dubai, he continues his personal catalogue while developing independent artistic worlds, including NEKYNOIA.

Teaching & research
Taught electronic music, music technology and computer applications in music; later completed a master’s degree in social communication, researching how music circulates through digital networks.
Independent catalogue begins
Began releasing songs independently, establishing the foundation of a catalogue shaped by songwriting, composition and an identifiable vocal language.
International festival work
Worked as artistic director with the Swiss band Jack Is Dead at Festival de la Cité, La Bâtie and Paléo Festival in Switzerland.
Lyrics and poetry in print
Published the lyric collection Khoshbakhtit Arezoomeh and the collection of white poetry Khaterate Matrook.
Debut album & the live stage
Released the 13-track debut album Khoshbakhtit Arezoomeh and began official headline concerts under his own name, followed by performances across Iran and in Vancouver.
Cinema as a second language
Wrote, directed and produced the short films Zed Zarb and A Normal Loneliness, extending his work from song into cinematic narrative.
A nationwide songwriting programme
Founded a nationwide professional songwriting programme in collaboration with Allameh Tabataba’i University, delivered in more than 40 editions across Iran.
Recognition & jury work
Received the Special Jury Prize at the 4th Afshin Yadollahi Song Festival and returned the following year as a jury member.

Began developing an independent artistic world at the intersection of electronic music, Persian mysticism, live performance and visual narrative.
